The founder of Palace Car Co assembled
two streamlined coaches for his layout in the 1980’s but
could not locate seats to purchase. A machinist by
trade, he clamped a strip of oak in his milling machine
and “machined” two 10 inch long benches. After cutting
them into 3/8” pieces, he filed them, sanded them,
painted them and then glued them into the cars as seats.
After 15 hours of work for the seats in these two
coaches, he thought to himself, "...there has got to be
a better way." The seeds of the business had been sown.
After a couple decades lacking detail parts for the
interiors of passenger cars, we decided to do something
about it. (For a view of one of these coaches, see
Parlor Kit #9551 in the catalog.)
In 1999 the Palace Car Co brand of products was founded.
Since most of the real passenger cars were coaches, and
since the model coaches were so obviously empty, we
started with coach seats. The first product, #5001
Streamliner Coach Seats, was on the market by the fall
of 2000. In 2001 the first complete interior kit for
coaches was introduced, and additional products have
been added to our catalog each year since. We are
currently working on more great stuff, stay tuned...
Our Motto:
Are you tired of your coaches
having that dark, empty look?
Our Goal:
To provide interior detail
parts for HO scale passenger cars
so the modeler can improve the looks of his trains.
Our target is the average modeler who
has a fleet of plastic passenger kits and would like to
improve them. Specifically, those kits that are being
sold without a factory interior, although, many HO scale
people are clipping down the tracks, in the comfort of
Palace Car Co seats, inside brass cars as well.
We are modelers,
too! |
